Being out of town and away from my varying responsibilities has made me soft, I tell ya! But NO MORE! I'm back, and I'm gonna be so on top of things that y'all won't even believe -- wait, what?

New episodes of Stargate SG-1 AND Atlantis tonight?

Okay, srsly. I have NO intention of deserting my peeps in favour of totally hot guys in uniform and amazing special effects and scary bad aliens and really awesome spaceships and EXPLOSIONS quality science fiction.

But, you ARE getting your prompts early tonight so I don't miss anything...

Oh, I have announcements galore for you guys, but all I have time for right now is this:

Help Wanted

ZOMG! I'm going on vacation again! I'll be gone for five days, six nights, this time with the rest of the fam AND the in-laws (save me!), to lovely and scenic WINCHESTER, Tennessee.

*waits a beat*

This means I'll be needing not just one, but TWO substitute mods for Monday, July 17th, and Friday, July 21st. Let's see some hands, people.

First two monkeys members to respond to this post get the job, unless I happen to call your mother and she tells me that you're an incompetent idiot. That MIGHT just throw a wrench into things. Then again, it could potentially help your case. It all depends on my mood.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to come up with the prompts for your assigned date, and basically keep the site from blowing up while I'm gone. There MAY be a few top seekrit things that could require that I assign you temporary maintainer status, so basic HTML knowledge, and a decent understanding of the inner workings of your average LJ comm are kind of a must. Da Triggaz

I've been away from my precious 'puter this past week (his name is 'Homer'), and lemme tell you, I've watched an UNGODLY amount of television to help get me thru the worst of the internet withdrawal.

What I found was that there are ENTIRELY too many of the same type of shows on TV, whether it be network programming, cable, or the more exclusive subscription channels.

I read enough fanfiction to know that the ideas are OUT THERE, and more than ever, I'm convinced that all of us should be working for the Hollywood grassfuckers and making money hand over fist coming up with the good stuffs that people actually want to WATCH. Are you with me?

Until that day, we'll play around in the fandom sandbox(es) of our choosing, and keep looking out the front window for Harvey Weinstein to pull up in his limo and hand us a big fat check for our efforts.

While we're waiting for that to happen, I give you:


'Too Much TV'

Trigger #1 - 'Interviews and Sensationalism' (FANFICTION ONLY)

Holy cow, there are a LOT of talk shows on televsion. From 'Jerry Springer' to 'Larry King Live', and all the varieties in between, the formula is much the same:

Someone famous, or (supposedly) interesting, unique, accomplished, or just plain CRAZY is getting grilled by a television host of some type, and we're all on the edge of our seats to hear what they have to say.

Or not.

Tonight, take your favourite fandom character or characters, and put them on the hot seat. They're the lucky guest of the hour, and you get to play host/interrogator. Ask them anything, anything at ALL. You call the shots, and they HAVE to answer.

Truth or dare, anyone?


Trigger #2 - 'Cops, Cops, and More Cops'

I wanted to specify that this prompt pertain to a police or FBI fandom and/or TV show (since there are BILLIONS of them to be found out there, past and present), but I decided to leave it a bit more open than that.

All you have to do is stick a member of the fuzz, the bacon brigade, the po-po, the MAN into your 60 minute fic. Have the fibs, the NSA, the Seekrit Service, the CIA, Interpol, Barney Fife, or even a security guard guest star somewhere in your masterpiece. Hell, any authority figure will do. The rest is up to YOU.

That broad enough for ya'll?


Trigger #3 - 'Medical Mayhem'

A combination of too much 'Smallville' (dear GOD, how they must love that hospital set) and a marathon of the first and second seasons of 'Grey's Anatomy' (holy CRAP is that show good! i had totally given up on the tried and true medical drama after 'ER' started circling the drain, but YAYE, it's awesome!), have led me to this, and now I pass it along to you.

Take a hospital, a clinic, a medical outpost in the middle of the Yukon, or even the first aid station at DollyWood and make it the setting for your fic.

It really is that simple, so let the ideas flow like a steady drip IV right into your creative veins. Woo! Lame!
